Firming / Firming Village Experience

 From old days, agriculture is popular in this area. The style of this area’s agriculture is a year round cultivation of mikan. Also Kamiakizu is a Kisyu nanko ume producing area, so famers cultivate ume in the early morning in Jane. By making use of this area’s agricultural style, we are planning to accept firming experiential learning.
We have been doing firming experiential learning for Kamiakizu elementary school students for more than ten years, so we can be ready for various menu with the know-how.
We accept minimum four members, but depends on produce and famer’s circumstances, we may not be able to take your request. Each experience is for 1700 yen.

Firming Experience - Mikan

Cover Mikan with Paper Bags Harvest Mikan
Late fall to February, we cover each fruit with paper bags.Kiyomi Orange, Deko-pon, Kara-mandarin, and Valencia Orange are the kinds which need to be covered.
(around 10 years old to adults)
Special experience to harvest mikan such as Unsyu-mikan, Pon-kan, Hassaku, and Sweet Summer Orange. We offer this experience almost all year long.

Firming Experience - Ume

Harvest Nanko-Ume This is for Umeboshi! Clean Up Pruned Branches of Ume
Ume cannot be eaten without processing.
Therefore, we can offer you the experiences of harvesting Ume and making Ume Juice.
It is a great help for famers to have more people for cleaning up pruned branches of Ume. These steady work is important and working with local farmers brings deeper understandings of agriculture.

Mini-Working Holiday Experience (Over Junior High School Students)

Thin Out Superfluous fruit  Harvest, Sort, and Pouch the Mikan
We thin out superfluous fruit from July to November. It is difficult for the first time, but you can learn from farmers. You can have a deeper experience of famer’s works. You will help famers by harvesting, sorting, and pouching mikan.
